Employee assistance programs
EAPs typically offer a limited number of confidential counseling sessions and referrals for employees and families. Strengths: confidentiality, breadth, low cost. Common limits: counselors may not know first responder culture, and use can be low if staff don't trust or know about the program.
Peer support teams
Trained peers provide a listening ear and connect colleagues to professional help. Strengths: trust and understanding of the job. Limits: peers are not clinicians, and confidentiality rules vary by state and policy.
Closing the gaps
- Proactive check-ins so support isn't only reactive
- Clear pathways from peer conversation to professional care
- Support that covers physical health as well as mental health
- Family access and education
How Frontline complements both
Frontline, powered by 360 Advantage, provides personalized, one-on-one physical and mental health support that helps surface concerns earlier and guide appropriate next steps — including connecting people to your EAP or peer team. It adds to your existing resources rather than replacing them, and it is not emergency or medical care.
